- Ellen DeGeneres -
This drawing is originally done December 2008. However, I didn't finish the last details till a few days back.
I wanted to do this drawing as a sort of tribute to her because I respect her. She seems a bit different than a lot of Hollywood people. I love the fact she can dance and go crazy without thinking about what other people will think of her. I also think her Ellen DeGeneres Show is one that actually care about the people on there as oppose to some talk shows, where it seem more to be a show about the host rather than the guests.
I know a lot of people judge on same sex relationships. Personally I believe in freedom to choose who you love and want to be with, no matter sex.
I paid a lot of attention on her eyes and the
experession in her mouth. I wanted the skin to look fine but still with age as she is 50 after all.
I chose a reference non-posing because that's how I think of her - being very natural.
I have always struggled with shorter hair but I took my time and worked a lot on the flow and smaller hairs, trying to make it vivid.
I definitely consider this to be one of my better portraits, I put a lot of work into it and feel happy with it.
Made with HB, B and a 4B graphite pencil on sketch paper.
