I am not sure how many hours went into this one but it was very time consuming. I wanted to try a new depth to my pastel drawings as they tend to be very light most of the time, apart from a few. I find it hard to give my pastel work the right realism and depth as with charcoal drawings. One of the things I worked a lot on apart from the skin was the hair. I tried to work a lot on outer and inner parts of the hair. Some parts could have been even darker but I still wanted it to be blond, with depth. I have to practise this more on my next pastel drawing.
I created the drawing from imagination which I feel happy with. I think the proportions went okay. For the roses I used my black roses. I started doing the left rose from imagination but felt it wasn't getting the realism I wished for and decided to study my roses for it with the right one and I corrected the left one as well.
Made with soft pastels.
