- She is blue -

When I first saw the beautiful photo of FaeStock: >link< I knew I wanted to use it for a drawing sometime. I love the stare in her eyes and the position of her mouth.
I decided to do a darker/sad girl this time, as it's been a while since I did one. I've been very much into pencils and realism lately but now I feel like going back to colour again, I've just been a bit frustrated with them lately. I bought a new light brown pastel last week which I used for the skin colour and I feel very pleased with it. It has a natural tone without it being too yellow.
The original colours of the drawing is different from what is shown here, they look more natural. It was impossible for me to adjust the colours perfectly + it's missing some of the middle tones and smoothness in some areas.
I wanted to give her a special hair with white and black stripes as I think it looks great in real life when people have this strong contrasted hair. I made her eyes really dark blue to make them very deep and to catch the attention of the viewer right away.
Overall I feel happy with this drawing, which is really important for me as I haven't been all that happy with many of my coloured pastel works lately.
Made with soft pastels.
