Default 5 o'clock shadow

I've been drawing more guys as of lately, and one of the dilemmas I've had is when guys have just a little bit of a beard, but not really facial hair like this

is the picture I'm drawing right now, and the areas around his mouth just look dirty. What technique do you guys use to draw this? Thanks!

I would draw small stripe like pionts, alot of them, with a pencil just a bit softer and sharp tipped and take the sharpness of by a touch of blending with a belending bulb, altough I have to be fair that i've never drawn a 5 o'clock shadowed guy, so try this on a blanck piece of paper first .

5 o'clock shadow ........ do some dots so it looks like regrowing facial hair and colour it grey lightly so it looks like its been shaved
