Question Help for animals (tigers in particular)

hey peepz, my favorite animal is the tiger, and i wanna daw a picture of it, but i'm not sure where to start, and everywhere i try to start has me stumped. what i've heard has given me the idea that I should do a rough sketch to get my proportions right, but should i draw it as 3d shapes (cylinder, sphere, cone, etc.) or basic lines (what you might see on www.bakaneko.com for the anime drawings). Then, after that- WHAT ARE THE PROPORTIONS? Then, what do i do? what about details, highlights on the eyes and fur- oh, the fur- the worst nightmare...... in short, i need help in every aspect. i know i can do many more than just one drawing, but because the tiger is a creature of such grace, elegance and majesty, i want to be able to get a few REALLY GOOD ones of it pouncing, prowling, lying down- also, id like to reveal it's playful side with it chasing and batting at a stange thing or rolling on its back. Anyone have hints for any of these things- posing, proportions, pre-drawing sketch, fur, highlights, scenery- please post them.

First of all you could try to draw it and then show it to us. That way we could help you more. And please don't call us peepz.

You don't seem very enthusiastic about it......

I was thinking about doing a tiger too but sort of left the idea without doing it :P.

Ehhm.. I'm not sure where to start either, a general 'rule' that I mostly apply is first drawing the outlines of everything without any shading/texture. Once you have that right, continue with the fur and shading and everything.

If you are afraid to mess things up when doing the fur, first try doing a part on an apart peace of paper, just experiment
