I don't as I cannot be bothered drawing the grid to begin with

i use it sometimes, when the drawing is like real hard, but sometimes i don't feel like measuring the grid then i draw freehand

i never did until i the other day when i did my Amelie drawing...I wanted to see how much better my proportions would turn out--which they did like A LOT

iunno if i'll continue with it tho...too much time to measure and all to begin with

I do :P Most to get the proportions right, it feels better for me to know almost exactly where everything will be and not have to guess. But at the same time I feel a bit afraid to rely too much on the grids, I want to be able to draw free hand too.

I say, if it's helping you, then do continue, I mean it isn't a crime to use it.

At the end of the day, if it can help you to produce nice works of Art, that's all that should matter.

i think this whole gridding subject should be layn down (i don't mean your post sadako ) there are sooo many people saying that gridding is cheating and saying to draw freehand to become like master at drawing
i think that's not it, you don't have to draw flawless freehand to become a master drawer, some really really really stunning artists use grids, not small ones, but bigger squares to know where the features must go, because it's time consuming to draw the complete drawing freehand
i mean, they just use the grids to place the drawing, not do actually shade and stuff

don't know if my comment makes scene but oh well
