I love to paint using acyrillic but I'm pretty new at it and I don't really have any friends who seem to know what they're talking about regarding techniques and materials...
So, my question is, has anyone in this forum used different materials and mediums regarding paintings? I mean, I've used sand, ground coffee, nail polish etc but I also have some ideas such as using dried up leaves and flowers, jean or silk material etc.... Has anyone tried using such stuff before and does anyone have any suggestions? All help and ideas would be greatly appreciated and also links to artists who have work using different materials then "just" paint.... THANKS! -rie |

Does this mean that no one here paints or no one has any ideas or was my question just really hard to understand? Again, has anyone ever experimented using different materials while painting? Any bad or good experiences? Any far out ideas that would make a painting more unique and interesting?? Do I smell bad and therefore no interest in talking to me?? |

Hi Rie!
Well, I dont have a lot of experience with it but I find those structure pastes quite interresting, specially for collages. I`ve also tried useing "fruit net" but just for one time... as you can see, the whole topic of alternative material is also new to me |

I haven't tried the structure paste yet - haven't had time to buy some recently. Ground up coffee and sand gives a really neat texture too but not the same as structure paste I imagine....
Just recently I dried some flowers (baby's breathe I think it's called in English) and pressed them for a couple of days. Then I painted a background on a normal canvas and glue the dried flower on. Since it didn't press completely flat, there is still some texture and shadowing. Looks pretty neat. But I added some hearts and now it's too gushy and sweet for my own liking. I'll try to post it a picture later if any one is interesting in seeing... I just need to figure out how first..... -Rie |
