coloured coal?

i really like all of zindy's colored coal drawings but im kinda confused about the pencils. are they actually like charcoal pencils with the same consistancy i guess the word is or are they more like pastel softer feeling? do they blend/smear the same way as charcoal pencils? i havent been able to find any colored coal where i live and i was also wondering if there is somewhere on the internet i can buy them at and learn a little more about them.

It is like regular coal - just with colour.
You can't buy them at the art shops in Denmark anymore but I found a book store which had some left so I am buying all I can afford.
All I can say it that they are faber castell charcoal pencils... I don't know if you are able to get them in other countries.

I think I found something for you. Here is the link for the faber castell company in the USA http://www.faber-castellusa.com/
When you click on products -> Art &Graphic and then to the right you find Pastells. There is a photo of the faber castell pastels and the prices. They also have a Store Collector on top of the site.

Sorry for posting twice, but I just remembered that I found those kind of colors at the Hobby Lobby in Bowling Green, so they should be available in the U.S.
