Default Eyes

Hey everybody!
I just wanted to start with drawing portraits, but before that, i would like to learn, how to draw eyes. It's very hard for me, to get the right size. And a big problem also are the eye-lashes. Which pencils do I have to use?
Any tips for me?

Bye
Sanna

Ps. I'm so sorry for my bad english. So if you find any mistakes, keep them )

Hi Sanna!

Eyes... the most important part since that's what everyone first looks at! :) To draw the eyelashes, I usually use a sharp pencil (doesn't matter if it's a 60 dollar pencil or a simple pencil from the local bookshop, I think ;))... And don't try to draw each individual eyelash, but draw them in clusters...

Anyway that's what I think :) Good luck!

Well you must try and find a book which tells you and shows you how the face is divided into sections. All the proportions are divided specifically in relation to eachother.

Study the structure of the face, and practice practice practice...

That's a good idea indeed, and for all that matters: eyes (or faces) never are really equal on both sides... so a little difference wouldn't be bad :)

@Phoebe
If you can't make the eyes look equal, that's perfect
Nobody has a face, where the left and the right side of it looks absolutely the same. So you have to consider every little difference.
You have to look at every part of the face very thoroughly and just draw what you see. Do not draw the right eye and then try to copy it to the other side. The result would just look weird.
