Just can't get the hair right

im drawing portraits to, but i hope you could help me wiht something.. the hair,

look at this, i try to draw what i se, but nomatter what i do the hair seems unreal.

I moved the thread to Artists help.

To include an image, you must have it online somewhere else, for example at a free webspace provider. Then you can use the IMG tags to include it, like this:

[IMG]http://cze.dk/horse.jpg[/IMG]

Which should result in the picture at http://cze.dk/horse.jpg being shown on the page like this:

I had actually been to look at that drawing before. What pencil did you use for the hair?

I usually use a very sharp 2B pencil, like in this one:



Then what you do is look where the light shines on the hair, that will be the light shadows, and the rest will be dark...you can use the same technique for blonde hair...

Its much easier to get good hair with a very sharp pencil, and then keep the strands whole...do not draw hair in blocks...
