Default The position of your drawing

Hi
I just have a question for all the amazing artists here ( each and every one of you)!!
What is the position you put your paper and reference photo when you draw?
do you have a clipboard? Because I find it sometimes difficult to draw facing on the table (flat); when I turn it straight up- I can clearly see some errors. So I was just wandering what it is the best position to draw.
I hope I dont sound too confusing!!

that used to happen to me too. i solved this by improvising a clipboard (basically a hard surface and some paper clips-the curved ones hope you understand)
so i can put that board against the table edge at an angle
and turn the drawing paper facing me directly (i mean as if the refernce was 'standing' in front of you )
while my back is relaxed against the back of the chair so i don't slouch over the table.
for the reference i use my laptop even if a photo needs to be scaned,
so that it also is facing my eyes directly, that way i can get the proportions just right.
some people also buy those stands (or make 'em )
which also place both your reference and paper directly infront of your eyes
Hope that helped.

I have a cheap answer to that:

Just make it yourself as comfortable as possible. Lay a sheet underneath it to rotate your drawing without touching it, and lay your reference in line of sight or turn your screen towards a most comfortable position.

thank you guys.
but is it difficult to see the details of your reference photo when it is in front of you and you are sitting back?
because when you look at it closer, you can see more details. ?

First, do what works for you. Whatever is the most comfortable, and gives you the results you want is the right way.

I use a drafting table with the back about 4 inches higher than the front. I have friends that tilt their tables until they are almost vertical, and they tape the paper and reference work to the table.

Have Fun,
Jeff

lol. mila, i think lisa was joking...i just meant clips that are not permanet.-not like staples that will ruin the drawing and for the reference just put on your tilted drawing surface right next to the paper
