Hi,
first of all, I want to say, that I'm from Germany, so if you don't understand my English or if there are too many mistakes... I'm SORRY
Well... some things about me :
I've been joining some drawing classes for 4 years (aquarell) and now I'm in another class, where we draw different things, but most of the time with acryl. I really like drawing, but I would like to learn how to draw portraits. I really don't know how to do it, because I just start an it never looks the way I want the picture to look like
If you want to have some examples :

(I really kind of hate this picture, because I didn't get along with the nose)

(+äääh+ yes)

Well, you see... I don't know how to make the pictures look like they are in reality.
Perhaps you can give me some tips.

Oh I forgot... I'm 16 years old ... next week 17 :D
Hope to get to know you soon, and hope, you understood my school-English ;)

welcome! you're off to a really good start, you just need to practice. it looks like you need to work on your angles in the portrait. that kind of drawing is hard because a l;ot of times it looks like if you draw just what you see it won't look right, but you just need to keep trying to find out what works for you. good luck!

Well, yes. But I often don't know how to make the shades. On Zindy's pictures you can't see any pencil lines. And I don't know how to do that.

Hi Kabafreak, welcome to the forums, I hope you'll like it here, I think Zindy blends all her shades, skintones e.g. eighter with a tisseu or her fingers, i sugest useing a tisseu first, till you get the hang of it, shade your drawing and just rub gently with a tisseu over the shaded part, and if it's not dark enough do it again, thats how I also get rid of the lines in my drawings.

Ow... Your ''School'' English is really good.

Hi and welcome :)

I see what you mean with the nose on the first one. You definitely chose a hard angle too. You could use a pencil to make sure things are in line and have the right size, I find that very helpful.

No, I don’t blend all my drawings. I don’t like blending when using pencils because it gives this messy uneven look sometimes. I’d rather suggest to use small stokes and use a softer pencil, in that way you can achieve the smooth look without it getting messy. If you do decide to blend your pencil drawings use a tissue or cotton, not your fingers.. might mess it up even more.
But as with everything it takes practise.. so just draw, draw and draw :)
