As I scrolled through the topic Most Beautiful I saw a lot of quite beautiful girls, but I immediatly started to wonder what it was that makes these girls a beauty...

Actually I am not certain and I know that everybody has a different take on beauty... I certainly thought about it and I concluded that I think everybody is beautiful in their own way... and perhaps some people don't want to know but everybody is also Ugly in their own way... Although this seems cheesy or nasty but I think I have some arguments to support this theory...

Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder it's always the big question what does the beholder think... what does he/she like, what does he/she hate... let's just say that the beholder is you. If you watch yourself you're tempted to either like a lot of things about yourself or hate them (depending on moods, pessimism, optimism, etc.). I think beauty is that one thing that catches the eye, or ear in some cases. The little details... That is beauty... and everybody has them... It can be the eyes... the legs... maybe your voice... your tone... your touch... it can be Anything but I am certain that everybody has at least 5 things of which they can truly say "damn I think that's really beautiful" and although most people mainly focus on the looks most of this beauty is on the inside...

Inevitably we get to the Uglyness... off course there are some things about people that are less attractive... but one mate of mine (really shallow when it comes to girlfriends mind you) always says: "There are really a rare few who Look Really Beautiful... luckily there are also only a rare few who are really ugly" what he really means by this that if you don't fit the "beautiful" bill you are not automaticly Ugly... I would also like to add the thought that the Ugly things are not the details... because ugly details are annoying at most... The really big things is what makes somebody or something ugly... sure the mole on your cheeck is ugly... but it's annoying... but if you feel ugly and your entire body language says "I am ugly" then you can bet your *** you look ugly... Thus the Big Picture _can_ be ugly...

In the end it is still in the eye of the beholder... one's ugly can be another one's beauty... I for one think really skinny girls (you know ribcase included) are not really attractive but for some you can't be skinny enough... To those who doubt: Yes there are at least 5 things beautiful about you... and each and every one of these details overshadow your flaws to the people who really care...

I am not sure what I'm trying to say with this... perhaps I'm trying to talk back some confidence into myself... but that doesn't matter... Perhaps I am trying to keep some people from changing things about themselves because people think it's ugly... Perhaps I am trying to give some people things to think about or perhaps some self esteem everybody needs and deserves...

Also if this gives rise to any questions, own theories or what not, you know what this forum is for... I would love to hear your opinions on this topic... (if you bothered to read the entire thing that is...)

I would like to wrap this up with a Poem I made some time ago about this very subject... and almost stating the exact same as I just wrote down...

Beauty

If it would be a person,
What would it look like and how would it smell?
If it would be a myth,
Would it be a hero or a king that fell?
If it would be an animal,
Would it be free or around its neck a bell?
If it would be a plant,
Would it be plucked by a man to sell?

It’s not a person, plant nor myth,
And without an answer I’d have to live.
‘cause beauty is an indefinable thing,
Like winter, fall, summer and spring.
And although People don’t want to admit,
Beauty, for everybody, is a perfect fit.

Hey. I tyhink it varys from person to person. They way I view beauty is something that sets one differet from another. I don't know. I think everyone is beautiful. When I mean everyone, I'm saying what's inside. I see my bestfriend Monique as beautiful, both on the imnside and out. I think people that are beautiful strike me as unique. It's kind of hard to explain. I have thought this myself may times before. I guess "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" ? If those post even made anysense, I have no idea, but that's my take on it.

I think if someone has a really awesome personality, that makes them even more beautiful...to me if they have something unique or something different that stands out, and its usually the things that those people hate about themselves that i find beautiful...but to me imperfections are more beautiful than anything :) i think the typical long blonde perfect hair, big boobs, tan skin is boring, but seems to be what most people think is beautiful  and another thing, i think tattoos on girls are soo beautiful, as long they're unique :P

I like your poem Emu, I think that sums it up pretty well.

Oh yeah... This is the definition of Beauty from http://dictionary.com :

1. The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.
2. One that is beautiful, especially a beautiful woman.
3. A quality or feature that is most effective, gratifying, or telling: The beauty of the venture is that we stand to lose nothing.
4. An outstanding or conspicuous example: “Hammett's gun went off. The shot was a beauty, just slightly behind the eyes” (Lillian Hellman).

i also think that beauty is individual! to my mind, beauty doesn't have to be anything you can see.. it can also be a trait, or just the way you feel about someone that makes him/her beautiful for you... which is why people may have difficulties naming what they think is beautiful about a
person.
about the ugliness: if there's a person who's face and style you think are beautiful and you hear the person speaking and saying things you think are foolish or just meaningless then that person is no longer really beautiful to you, i think.

) i think the typical long blonde perfect hair, big boobs, tan skin is boring, but seems to be what most people think is beautiful

It's because that's what society and the media have taught us. When you look at beauty magazines or TV or movies, it's always that type of girl that they are portraying as beautiful.

This is kind of an interesting topic. I agree with everyone saying that personality has alot to do with beauty. Because I have dated some girls in the past that were very beautiful on the outside but they had absolutely nothing going on inside their heads, and that was a turn off. Most of my friends are not people you would look at and say OMG, he/she is beautiful, but they are beautiful to me because I know what the stand for in life, and what their opinions are, and that they are all around good people who'd drop everything to help someone out. That's beauty.

In my oppinion beauty depends on the viewer. Everybody has got another definition to whats beatiful for him.. Would be worse if everyone had the taste. For me its got to do something with charisma and beeing content with yourself.

I've always thought real beauty is just to be yourself.
Don't be a role player or attention seeker.
Get to know someone before you judge them.
What's inside matters just as much as what is outside.
It's not what you wear but how you wear it.
Listen to other people's opinions but decide them for yourself.

To be beautiful:

To have the needs of being beautiful you will have to be partly born beautiful. One thing that helps a lot is also to be able to use it with different skills.

For example how to dress. A person that is good at finding very nice combos on clothing, is using her/his beauty to make it look even better.

I would refer ty style, which is not only visible, but also invisible, such as choice of Edt (edp if you got the money for it).

A sense of beuty is a sense of being able to see someones wholeness.

What is the difference between cute, beautiful, pretty, gorgeous, etc? I'd like to hear different opinions for a paper that I'm writing.

I wouldn't say flaws are ugly, or are what cause 'ugliness' or unattractiveness. I believe we can find beauty in flaws.
Beauty does not exist without its flaws.
Perfection isn't beauty. It's fake.
I don't think I'll ever look at a perfect circle and claim it to be beautiful.
But that's my opinion.
