As I scrolled through the topic Most Beautiful I saw a lot of quite beautiful girls, but I immediatly started to wonder what it was that makes these girls a beauty...
Actually I am not certain and I know that everybody has a different take on beauty... I certainly thought about it and I concluded that I think everybody is beautiful in their own way... and perhaps some people don't want to know but everybody is also Ugly in their own way... Although this seems cheesy or nasty but I think I have some arguments to support this theory...
Since beauty is in the eye of the beholder it's always the big question what does the beholder think... what does he/she like, what does he/she hate... let's just say that the beholder is you. If you watch yourself you're tempted to either like a lot of things about yourself or hate them (depending on moods, pessimism, optimism, etc.). I think beauty is that one thing that catches the eye, or ear in some cases. The little details... That is beauty... and everybody has them... It can be the eyes... the legs... maybe your voice... your tone... your touch... it can be Anything but I am certain that everybody has at least 5 things of which they can truly say "damn I think that's really beautiful" and although most people mainly focus on the looks most of this beauty is on the inside...
Inevitably we get to the Uglyness... off course there are some things about people that are less attractive... but one mate of mine (really shallow when it comes to girlfriends mind you) always says: "There are really a rare few who Look Really Beautiful... luckily there are also only a rare few who are really ugly" what he really means by this that if you don't fit the "beautiful" bill you are not automaticly Ugly... I would also like to add the thought that the Ugly things are not the details... because ugly details are annoying at most... The really big things is what makes somebody or something ugly... sure the mole on your cheeck is ugly... but it's annoying... but if you feel ugly and your entire body language says "I am ugly" then you can bet your *** you look ugly... Thus the Big Picture _can_ be ugly...
In the end it is still in the eye of the beholder... one's ugly can be another one's beauty... I for one think really skinny girls (you know ribcase included) are not really attractive but for some you can't be skinny enough... To those who doubt: Yes there are at least 5 things beautiful about you... and each and every one of these details overshadow your flaws to the people who really care...
I am not sure what I'm trying to say with this... perhaps I'm trying to talk back some confidence into myself... but that doesn't matter... Perhaps I am trying to keep some people from changing things about themselves because people think it's ugly... Perhaps I am trying to give some people things to think about or perhaps some self esteem everybody needs and deserves...
Also if this gives rise to any questions, own theories or what not, you know what this forum is for... I would love to hear your opinions on this topic... (if you bothered to read the entire thing that is...)
I would like to wrap this up with a Poem I made some time ago about this very subject... and almost stating the exact same as I just wrote down...
Beauty
If it would be a person,
What would it look like and how would it smell?
If it would be a myth,
Would it be a hero or a king that fell?
If it would be an animal,
Would it be free or around its neck a bell?
If it would be a plant,
Would it be plucked by a man to sell?
It’s not a person, plant nor myth,
And without an answer I’d have to live.
‘cause beauty is an indefinable thing,
Like winter, fall, summer and spring.
And although People don’t want to admit,
Beauty, for everybody, is a perfect fit.
