if it's really your first portrait,you started very well! :D
But i think you should work more on details and mostly on the teeth 8)

Not bad for a first time. As I can see, the porpotions aren`t totally right. But never mind that, nobody gets that right on his/her first portrait. Perhaps you can try the griding methode to get your portpotions right. :)
Your drawing is very light, as you already mentioned. It might be your scanner or your pencil. You said you have drawn this with a HB2 pencil, and that`s really light.
I aslo would work a bit on your shading, don`t be scared to make them darker. I see you have a beautiful way of blending, it looks very natural :) To make your drawing a bit more realistic I would make some highlights in the hair, so you get a bit more contrast.
For 2-3 hours and a first time, this isn`t bad at all. You should definitely contineu drawing. I can see you have talent :wink:

You can look to the zindy tutorials too, for more details in the face, but its defiantly not bad
Hb means how hard the pencil is hb is light, You have also B that’s harder end makes lines darker, on the number
you can see how hard a pencil is too 1 is very hard 3 is softer
