how do you draw your people with the look as if there face is shining?

When you shade one side dark the other is left looking like the light is shining on it.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the PM, I see you have written here too so I will just answer here. When you shade you can leave some spaces all white and it will make the face "shine" I guess. I am not completely sure what you mean with shine, but if you leave something un shaded and something very dark it will create depth.

If you use a picture for reference you have to really study the picture and see the tones/shades. If you make it greyscale you can see it better. Try to draw exactly what you see. Eventually it will come naturally and you will learn how light falls etc. and it will become more logic. Practise makes perfect - ohh well, at least better :)
