Thanks Luisina, Esther! It's on 24-th. Don't know if I'll be posting a wip this time, I have only the basic proportions laid down (my mind was totally distracted yesterday, I've made a lots of mistakes :D ) and I guess I won't be able to work on it during the week because of the exam and work. Then I want it to finish it really quickly to move on to next drawing, I want to draw a lot during summer :D

I just had an event where the president came and we had to stand along the way just to clap for him. And the organizer just told us that the president actually request to him to make sure that us students are not to stand under the hot sun..we were quite surprised when we heard that and of cos..the whole auditorium cheered so loudly..(mind you...it was very hot and sunny at that time)

I was washing the deli slicer, being as cautious as I possibly could because I had just sharpened the blade, and my hand slipped off the rag and cut into my left thumb. http://www3.christianforums.com/images/smilies/doh.gif
It's right next to the nail, so at least it didn't go through the nail, and it goes halfway through my thumb, which is even worse because that makes it twice as likely to get infected.
But I've never had an infection, broken bone, or stitches, and I'm gonna keep it that way. *Knocks on wood*

But, I think I'm out of commission for drawing for a while... :(

Wow I sent my laptop a while back to get the fan changed and I received it today after a looot of waiting and not only did they tell me they couldn't change it but now it doesn't work at all. Before it worked it just had this terrible noise. Now that I saw it...I am sooo pissed. Not only it doesn't work but it looks like c...p. They used the wrong screws and some were too long and went almost threw the laptop...the keyboard sticks out in one place. It's a total mess. Sorry for all this rambling I am just so pissed I had to get it out of my system.

So learn from my mistakes and watch out where you send your laptops for repairs :(

I learnt my lessons in buying laptops after 4 spoilt ones and they cant even be repaired. Once motherboard spoilt..RIP for them. I ended up buying desktop PC instead. Much safer. ;)

Yes, I think we're kind of on the same level ;)
But I hate to see it happens in the Artist work area as well, I mean the selifsh acts... you and I.. we share our art in our threads but we are also interested in what other people post, and we comment on it to show our interest - since it is 'to take ánd to give'. If you want people to be interested in your work, you'll have to make sure you show some interest in others' work as well :)

And get me wrong, it's not that I'm jealous or trying to be mean - but I hate to see some people have an apparent lack of moral...

I FINALLY GOT THE RIGHT SOFT PASTEL COLOUR :D :D hahahaha

it took me a month to find the right colour! My mom had a very very old box with soft pastels when she was young, she got that box from my grandfather and that box was his when he was on school.. so you can imagine how old that is! 60 years or somethign :o ..!

I believe I kind of sworn off relationships. I just cant seem to find the right guy whom I can talk and laugh with.! Especially when i am a settling down kind of person...two of my friends are engaged even before they finished graduate! (they are same year as me) *Envious* :p

yeah their are like a million differnet kinds of colors :o and the nice one was .. they had on the site where I bought it (www.crea-Art.nl (http://www.crea-Art.nl)) a map with the different colours and colournumbers!! so their I saw my colour that I needed :p but then .. the list they made wasn't in order .. it wasn't in a logical way ... you know what I had to do?
I had to count from left to right up and down .. and then it was number 16 or so .. and then I had to count in the list of all the colours .. down to 16 and then I had to GUESS or it was the right one :p haahha because I still didn't knew the combination I made now was the right one :p but .. happily .. it was :D wieeeh hahahaha

Ok, here's my 2 cents in this discussion:

From what I've gathered here, many people in this topic find those who don't comment on the works of others selfish. I ask myself though, how can one be certain another is selfish? Being selfish implies that you refuse to do things for others you want others to do for you, but how can we know for sure what other people actually want?

Looking at the description of the Artwork-subforum, it says members can post their artworks, but there's nothing about how/when/why to post comments. Therefore, I can understand different people have different ideas on how to behave.

For example, it could be well be possible that people consider it as a place to post their works for others to learn or get inspiration from it: they view other people's works without commenting on them, and upload their own, without wanting loads of comments (and therefore not 'even' post a simple thank you). From this point of view, these people are not selfish at all since they return the favour of uploading their own works for others to view. For these people, it would be the lurkers who visit the forum but don't upload their works, who actually are selfish.

Similarly, there's the possibility that members who lack the criteria for being selfish given in this topic (i.e. not commenting on other members' atworks), actually are selfish. They could post a comment praising an artwork while they actually don't mean it, how genuine it may seem though, just to get others to comment (honestly) on their own works.

Of course, there are many other possible explanations on why people don't comment on other people's works. Maybe because they have difficulty in putting their thoughts to words. Maybe because they don't want to post superficial yet genuine comments like a simple 'I like it very much", because they think it would be considered annoying. Or maybe a combination of all the aforementioned.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is we can't say with certainty who is selfish, as we can't know the motives for one's behaviour.

But yes, I have to agree that people who explicitly ask for comments but don't give any themselves are quite annoying. The chances of them actually not being selfish are very small indeed.

Otherwise, a system similar to DA's would suffice as well, no?).

The main concept of this forum, however, doesn't live up to that. People post their works, others comment on it (or so they should, according to some :D) mostly unrelated to previous comments (thereby failing to create a constructive conversation), and new works are posted again.

I think my interpretation of a forum's purposes are fairly reasonable, and this forum doesn't live up to it (though I don't have any serious trouble with it, mind you ;) ). And if a certain forum doesn't have the purposes it "should" (there is not a strict rule about it, after all) have, how could one know what purposes it does have? (and thus know how to behave accordingly)

Now, I can imangine you don't agree with my views on a forum's intentions, and I can understand your argumentation, but what I was trying to show is that this question is at the least debatable and that people therefore can have different ideas on how to behave here. Even if their opinions don't correspond with the communis opinio and/or unintendedly have flaws in their argumentation, I think it would be a bit harsh to call these people selfish or annoying. (and there still is the second half of my post with other suggestions, of course ;) )


EDIT: By the way, did anybody else see 'Goal 4 Africa'? The level of the game was at some points hilariously low, but it was fun finally seeing a match where the players played fair and didn't dive to the ground every minute or so :p

I went to the art store today to buy some paper and markers. And the cashier charged me for 2 markers, when I only bought one BUT didnt charge me at all for the paper! :D So I got a $20 pad of paper for free. Haha, well... I had just come home, from Holland, after 2 x 7˝ hours of driving. I went there, with a friend of mine, for a screentest to this movie or series. I actually believe we got through?! It's so insane :D :D :D. We are going back for the first shoots in the last week of August. I can't really believe it. None of us have ever done a thing like that. It was so spontaneus?! Amazing really! I feel great we caught the opportunity, even though it was such a crazy idea.

yes that is dangerous too. my husband listens to his mp3 player while riding the scooter, I dont let him while Im riding on it with him but hopefully he doesnt have it too loud where he cant hear whats going on...like a firetruck siren or something :p

yeah i do that also, one ear in ;) Sometimes both when it's not to crowdy in my surroundings, so im clear of any danger lol. I just came back from Marokko!! It was awesome!! Had the best time ever!! But it was so hot!! 46° we were melting! Saw a lot of beautifull things and even took a ride with a dromedary! It was so weirxd and high but a huge experience!! :-D

Which means i won't have to leave my car park on the street anymore and I can drive my car more often now because i won't have to worrry whether I will find a parking space:D .........street parking is a pain in the butt where i live, you have to drive around for 15 minutes just to find a parking spot.

OMG, can't believe what happened to me this afternoon..
I went for a horse ride and everything went well until I jumped off my horse and felt something wasn't right.. Turned out that my jeans were torn exactly on that place where you don't want your clothes to rip.. The gap was more than 15 cm.

lol shame thats bad hey!!! ya speaking about "pants tearing", i got a story, a few years back i was late for something and i ran out our back door and the hook caught my jean's back belt loop so i was like hanging on a string and it finally broke and well i landed on the staris but even though i was bleeding, the only thing i was thinking about was "WHO SAW ME???" and when i got up, with a ripped open jean and looked around....... my whole family was sitting and looking at me!!! *blushing* gosh that was like so unfunny!!! hehe but ag it happens to all of us i guess!!!

This talking of splitting jeans reminds me of one incident about three years ago in my high school, where a classmate of mine who was president of the council, and he split his pants in the behind.! And because my class is full of girls and there's only 8 guys (which he's one of them), the girls offer to sew the pants for him.


And one of them were cheeky enough to sew bright red thread to stitch it up (his uniform pants is blue). So imagine his embarrassment when he wore it (no choice, or else he will be stuck in the loo the whole day) and he had to tuck out his uniform shirt to cover it, which earns him a lecture from our discipline master for improper attire (since he's president of council).

Its so hilarious! :D

hi guys i thought i should share a funny story with you.At my grandma`s there is this autumn festival and every 19 year old girl rides in a carige and the boys on horses everything good an swell oh btw it was like 30 C and i didn`t eat anything all day and all we had to drink was wine so i sit in that carige for like...6 hours...and on the way back i wanted to rite on a horse with one of the boys i loved riding it was just so so amazing but then ,when we reached the center of the village...i fainted from the heat blah blah...fell off the horse and cracked my head , when i woke up i was already in the ambulance yesterday my mot took out the stiches from my head...oh and the boy i was with alsaw felt...but on me...he broke his arm ...i think...he saw me unconsious on the ground and started yelling on me why did i have to fall then he got back on the horse and left...what a gentleman.. :| anyway that`s my vacation :P...oh and the table they put me on was a bit rusty and when they put me on it broke down with me on top of it :))) now that`s a story :))

Today was another school shooting in Finland. Nine people including shooter died. This is second shooting in finnish school this year. When last shooting happened I stressed so out that I thought every morning that today it can happen in my school too. Literly I was thinking : Today I might die. I hate guns so much! I saw something in the news about it last night, it's scary these things happens again and again. It must be frightening to go to school knowing there is a risk. Sadly there seem to be many risks these days. In the area not too far from here gangs are shooting and fighting a lot. There have been a lot of shootings in the area the past 14 days. Sometimes it feels like the world is going mad.

These things tend to come in waves. Some people draw what is popluar, and I am pretty sure that is why Joker is drawn so much, I too have seen many and I haven't even had time to look much around.

Charlize Theron I am pretty sure is because of the contest on DA. I was thinking to enter too, only I don't really like her. Wish it had been another subject.
