hey guys, i'm new here and i'm also new in drawing portraits. i always did paintings with acrylic paint but in the last few months i started drawing with pencils and especially started to draw some portraits^^

so my problem now is, that i'm struggling with lips. i don't know how to make them look more realistic and more corpulent (don't know if that's the right expression for it?! :D)
i'm also struggling with the highlights on lips.

i hope you can help me out ;)
greetings,
Esthi

Its good you come up with a question like that; the mouth is very important and underestimated difficult. What important is lips sets the lower faceline. Please ensure that those are alright. This is proportional. You can also work the other way around like I do. Just draw the details in and color in the shades afterwards by toning down the details. Maybe that way it is more easy to understand mow much tone you need. Observation in real life helps a lot too. Highlites on lips can be very local. Skip highlites like in hair and then cut down to the desired area, working from the darkside :).
