View Full Version : Val♥ Drawings - Updates
I dont know if I can make a new thread because of my other account as well
I made a new drawing of Zach Roerig ^^:
Ex- Casey from As The world Turns...
I love ATWT, it is a ritual here at home to watch it every night. Casey was one of my favorite characters bud sadly he left and after that like most times their is a recast.
Made with Graphite Pencils - 2B, 4B, HB (for the sketch) and 9B (for the darker parts of the hair).

I have one WIP, I'm drawing Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson
If you guys still have tips for me now or things I should change tell me please because I can still change it now =)
07-05-2009, 09:57 AM
Very light and sweet. I don't know who he is though. Another Edward, I see him a lot these days. Funny how people are drawn in sort of waves :)
Anyway, it's coming along nicely. Be careful with the size of his iris, the one to the right looks bigger than the other. Otherwise the likness seem accurate. Happy drawing Vall :)
07-09-2009, 02:52 PM
Hi Vall ...
good drawing >> but you must go more hard on the pencil
07-31-2009, 12:53 AM
I saw your Wip and are really impressed as i saw this.:D I cant wait to see how you shade it and how it will look if you are ready.
And if i see this right then you use coloured pencil for it. Or???
I will look the next time here for the Final Version or an update.

the edward one looks really good so far :)
08-05-2009, 01:01 AM
lovely work love the one of edward ;)
I made something totally different from drawing. I made my first photomanipulation:
Thanks everyone for the support :) means a lot ^^
I will post new drawings/ and the finished results soon!
Actually I do have two scans of two drawings I am working on, on my computer so here they are :) :
& the lovely Alice Cullen ^^
I am glad how the face, hair and eyes turned out but I suck at getting the textures right on the clothes. Do you guys know a good way to practice that?
I will post more soon ^^ Promise :)
10-26-2009, 09:18 PM
The photomanipulation turned out really good, you might have a hidden talent there Valerie :)
Jennifer Love is easily reconizable, very nice contrast :)
With textures I'd say practise... I find it hard sometimes as well depending on the details but I think when trying different clothing out it gets easier or you get more used to it.
Thank you Zindy for the advice and support http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/hug.gif
and thanks to everyone else as well for the help http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/hug.gif

11-09-2009, 08:52 PM
looks good! The unfinished version has also something special to it.
Thank you so much http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/hug.gif
11-10-2009, 08:05 AM
i love the photomanipulation. :)
11-11-2009, 04:46 PM
Its so ummm retro??? (correct me if I'm wrong) but it's damn great!!!!!!!!!!
11-15-2009, 07:31 PM
It's turned out very nice, especially her expression, you caught that well.
I have one suggestion though - larger longer eyelids, it will give her more powerful eyes :)
11-19-2009, 01:38 AM
I love your style! Your drawings are <3
I have two new ones. The first one being Jennifer Ferrin:
She's a Broadway actress but has also played in As The World Turns (thats how I know her) and I wanted to draw her because she is such an amazing actress!
PS: Might look a little funky but thats my scanner :P (acts funny - funky XD)
(Alec in New moon)
Although I drew him as his character (Alec in New Moon) first… I felt like doing another one since I wasn’t really convinced that it was the best I could on that moment with the first drawing I did. So the second time around I wanted to draw him more’ cause Cameron itself. What I really like about him and Dakota Fanning as well is that they both have this beautiful – mysterious look. So I was excited to hear that they were casted as Jane and Alec in ‘New Moon’ and de following movies- they just have the right look and they are both amazing actors. I hope he is recognizable and you like him
I know that I still have a lot to learn and to work on but secretly I'm kind of proud on these two drawings ;)
12-08-2009, 05:17 PM
I already saw the last one... and really, my comments can't lack any more originality, because I just KEEP saying you've improved SO much in such little time.. awesome job ;)
Thank you so much :aww: ! even though I have to say that I have to thank you a lot for all the support
12-11-2009, 05:30 PM
Love the eyes in both drawings, there great! Both drawings have a great flow to them .. keep going Val :D:D
12-11-2009, 10:33 PM
Looking good Val, you do such cute eyes, they are one of your strongest sides to me :)
12-12-2009, 03:40 AM
great job espescially on alec, you did a wondeful job.. i agree with zindy eyes are your strongest point :]
12-12-2009, 09:22 AM
Very well done : their facial expressions are so appealling, there is a dreamy feel in these :)
Thanks everyone for the sweet replies and support, you guys rock
New WIP - Rachael Carpani :D
12-21-2009, 10:31 PM
She looks very cute, not sure who she is though. Looking good so far Val.
12-23-2009, 04:34 AM
she has big eyes in proportion to her face, kinda like nicole ricchie :) nice progress so far :)
Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn in The Tudors) WIP
It's still in progress (even though it's almost done) but this is the first Work In Progress I wanted to show you. It is the talented English actress Natalie Dormer who portrayed the unforgettable second wife of king Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn. And yes, the scanner quality is still not doing what it should have been doing.

I think you have the basics that gets you far. For your digi-art. I've seen alot of photomanipulations, but nearly always the same mistake is that there is no shadowplay. Like where are the thrown shadows of the girl? Where does the lightsource come from tells me it's going towards me centered. You could do a cast shadow centered at her feet and a bit of shinelight and darkness around your sitter.
The whole will add alot more convincing to it ;)
Thanks for the advice :) I will try to do that with this current photomanip I am working on :D I aqree that the shadows do make it more realistic (just a little bit like drawing right? :) )
04-06-2010, 02:54 PM
Very cute work with the photomanip so far :) I agree with Mike, it sometimes get to look unrealistic if the light is not alike on the human/object and the background. On this one I actually think if she was placed between the bridge and tree and mirrored around the light fall would have been very realistic, coming from the right, hitten her hair and arm.
Either way is has a really nice atmosphere.
04-06-2010, 06:24 PM
i like the eyes on your latest drawing, very powerful though I really have no idea who the people you draw are :p your photomanipulation is nice, has a nice atmosphere and feels almost fantasy like.. good job:D
04-07-2010, 01:58 AM
all ur new ones are really great!! cant wait to see more :)
@Zindy: Thank you for the advice :)
@JamesssXD then the nest time I will draw someone everyone knows (I hope) hahha.
@Jessie88 thank you so much :D
04-08-2010, 10:07 AM
the photoshop work looks great and the eyes in you newest drawing are stunning!
05-03-2010, 02:35 PM
She's looking good so far Valerie, a lot of movement :)
05-03-2010, 04:06 PM
Looks good, I can see some Audrina in there.. the hair looks like it will be good when it's finished, and there is lots of movement.. looking forward to see this complete:D
Thank you so much for the support Zindy and James :) It really means a lot to me :) I will finish it very soon (well at least that is the plan ;))
05-05-2010, 12:03 AM
looking good so far :)
Workin on a new project
05-16-2010, 06:26 AM
looks great so far Val! i think his nose needs to be down just a tad more and her eye kinda looks like it's slanted upwards a little much, but other than that the proportions are amazing! good job!
Thank you so much for the advice and for popping by :D
Natalie Dormer | Anne Boleyn finished =)
When I look at the Work in Progress and the final piece I am glad that I changed the things that were not completely accurate. For example when you look at the Work in progress of the drawing you will see that her left eye (compared to the reference picture) was a little bit more closed. Now when I look at the final result and the reference I am glad I did change that. But the eyes on my drawing are a bit moreopen then the ones on the reference picture hihi!
05-24-2010, 04:47 PM
great drawing! I love her smile.
Looking foreward to seeing your twilight projekt done:)
05-24-2010, 11:30 PM
Great job !
Thank you so much!http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/g/glomp.gif
05-27-2010, 09:44 AM
She has a sweet expression and her hair silky soft. Well done Valerie :)
Thank you so much :D the next progress will be up soon
05-30-2010, 11:39 AM
val this is so pretty!! are you a Tudors fan? i watch the show and you captured her perfectly !she kinda reminds me of Amy Lee :)
Yeah I am! You too? Thats awesome :D Thank you very much for your compliment :D who is your favorite queen?
05-31-2010, 12:38 PM
hmm...thats a tricky one, i think it may be the last queen Cathrine Parr only b/c i find her devoted to her role as a wife/queen and love the genuine attention care and love she showed towards king henry's children, and although kathrine howards fate was very grim like anne boylen i feel they were both executed un-justly- and felt sorry for them,i think of all the queens the most passion king henry had was with anne boylen and the one he truly loved and sadly died was jane seymour-but the last one would have to be my favorite she seems the most loving and caring-so far..lol..
I agree. I also like Anne of Cleves though. I think it is heart-breaking how she got rejected like she was. She's a very compasionate and loving person. She speaks highly of people even when they are not as kind to her. There was really a lot of bitterness in Henry in the end. I have to say that my favorite queens are the two Anne's. Anne Boleyn was such an intense and intelligent woman. Henry and Anne's chemistry was so great because of the intense chemistry between JRM and Natalie...
Not really The Tudors related my favorite queen would be Elizabeth ;)
06-01-2010, 12:06 PM
I forgot about Anne of Cleves !! i agree she was a very caring queen too felt so sorry for her how king Henry treated her when he first met her!! cant believe he called her that name!!! how terrible, but i think in the end when he was un-happy with queen Kathrine howard he wished he would have stayed with Anne -i wonder sometimes if their real lives were as passionate or gruesome like they depict in the series :)
Hey Katerina I looked at your photos of you for a moment and you really look a little like a mix between Elizabeth and Katherine of Aragon? You have such a sweet face and a renaissance look it is really beautiful! And I love your beautiful long red hair :D
06-04-2010, 09:42 PM
Wow I really love all of your drawings! You're really good at getting the proportions right and you have your own style through all of them
Thank you so much! Thats a really sweet compliment :D what is your thread link? (I want to see your art :D)
Made a new manipulation today. All the credits are on my site
06-30-2010, 12:07 AM
That's very sweet Vall, sweet little fairy :)
My WIP of my drawing for Lauren (TransientART):
And my first colored drawing! (Flower Girl):
07-12-2010, 02:54 AM
Sweet drawings man, there are fantastic. I really love your photographs.
I like the last one you posted, coloured, the eyes are gorgeous.
07-12-2010, 09:52 PM
Oh the coloured one is very sweet, you are great at expressions, as I think I have mentioned before :)
07-13-2010, 02:32 PM
Gosh Val, beginning to feel like you should be totally into colored drawings, very very sweet and beautiful. Despite of what your mother said, the eyes are way way waaaay better already, good props ;)
07-13-2010, 06:31 PM
both drawings look very pretty but I specially like the flower girl one, it has a nice look, I like it! ;)
Thanks everyone for the sweet compliments :hug1:
When I saw the reference picture I immediately liked t because of the innocence and freedom that it represented and I knew I had to draw it and started right away and finished it about 6 hours later. It also features my favorite element Air which is why I decided to call it like that The girl on the picture is Kirsten Prout who appeared briefly as Lucy in Eclipse.
Time spend: +/- 6 hours
Paper used: Bristol Smooth Paper (270 x 360 mm)
08-03-2010, 03:06 PM
I really like it, the sof look on it gives it some uniqueness :)
I'm not sure if the picture was in colour or already in black&white but I could perfectly picture the whole drawing with graphite and the baloons in colour :D
Finally finished two other drawings today and wanted to show you :)
Bella & Edward:
I loved the reference picture a lot, Bella and Edward basically being captured in the moment. But already a lot of amazing artists drew this exact same picture so I decided to make mine on a brown-tinted paper hoping to achieve a timeless feeling. I know that I made Edward pretty pale but I wanted to do so because he is a vampire after all. I did the whole drawing with brown and white tinted pastels and hope because doing so giving a very beautiful and regularly used reference image my own twist.
Time spend: +/- 9 hours
Materials used: Pastels and A3 tinted paper (don’t remember the exact brand though )
Beautiful Vall! You captured the moment well. Keep up the pastel work! :)
Esther: That is a good idea! Color Splash! Will do that the next time with that type of drawing :D :hug1:
Tim: Thanks :D will do!
08-11-2010, 10:24 AM
can't wait to see how it will look then ;)
& I really like the work you did with pastels, very nice!
Which one do you like the best? Both are still in the making but this is what I have so far:
Please I need your opinion! (First two paintings :P)
08-11-2010, 08:34 PM
I like the dark one on the right the most. mainly because of the darkness and of the painting style. Something colorful in it would be nice too I think, but that's your choice. The other has a nice painting effect aswell, but it's different.
I like how the hair flows in the Audrina Patridge drawing.
Thank you so much for the opinions Natje :hug1: and I am very glad you like it :D
lol both are so nice. I absolutely love both
@ Thanks Tim :D I am really glad you like them.
New Drawing WIP.
I am drawing Joss Stone as Anne of Cleves because of Anne's sad story. Anne was Henry VIII's fourth wife and known as the 'Rejected Queen'because he judged her to be unattractive while she actually was a very sweet and honest human being. And beside that Joss Stone did a really good job as portraying her :)
09-02-2010, 09:25 PM
Nice WIP, try to do something with background would be my advice. This one is demanding it a bit.
09-03-2010, 12:25 AM
nice work so far :)
09-03-2010, 02:16 AM
looking good.. can't wait to see how this one progresses
09-04-2010, 01:21 PM
Great work on your last work. Itīs really recognizable.
Like to see when itīs done.
Thank you so much for the advice @Coldshiva I was thinking the same thing but I don't quite know what I should do in the background yet :)
Jessica: I am glad you like it ^^
DivineRain: Aww thanks :D it is almost done as in for the dress and extra details. I still need to decide if I should draw a background and if so what it will be :)
Nexus: Aww thank you so much! it should be done soon :) I have the details done only thing left is the background ;)
Started this one a while ago ^^".
Yup another Twilight drawing. This time I wanted to draw Rosalie to break away from Bella and Edward a bit. I do like Rosalie a lot actually. I think that ever since the beginning (when she was so harsh against Bella) it was already obvious why. And after I read Eclipse especially I was moved by her story.
It's practically done but I was wondering if I should color her eyes gold? I really like the idea of them popping out but I want to know your opinion. (If I do decide so this drawing shall be updated in a while instead of being re-uploaded )
Time already spend: +/- 8 hours
09-09-2010, 04:44 PM
beautiful drawing. Giving the eyes color would be a nice effect, I think. You really did a nice job on this so far. This is one of the characters I came to like. But I dunno, Bella is probably the most annoying character I've read in a book/series, and I thought Jacob was more interesting than Edward.
Have 2 new drawings :)
Fist off Mr. Bean =D :
Gosh I have wanted to draw Mr. Bean for so long and I finally got around to do it and this is the end result. I always thought that Mr. Bean was so funny and still enjoy watching it (even the cartoon version) to this day. Has been a while ago though
Time spend: +/- 9 hours
Second off Paul Wesley:
I am addicted to the vampires and I think I am team Stefan though I get Damon too. I feel like the Vampire diaries is a little bit more realistic in comparison to Twilight.
PS: I am making one of Damon too ^^
10-06-2010, 08:41 PM
I like the Paul Wesley drawing. the shading on the face looks really good and looks just like him, especially his pouty lips :D he's a hottie...and damon :D
10-07-2010, 07:05 PM
I like the semi-sketched style. I think you did great on Bean!
10-07-2010, 07:49 PM
I really like your style... and Paul Wesley looks great :)
10-31-2010, 01:08 AM
I really love the drawing of Rosalie Hale, I think you caught her expression very well.
Stefan & Damon:
Yay! It's finally done I wanted to draw Damon & Stefan together for a while now and I finally sat down and drew them! Whenever people ask me whether I am team Stefan or team Damon I am always doubting. Yes I have watched the Vampire Diaries for a while now and yet again I still can't decide. I love Damon's sarcasm, charisma and of course his looks. But I was all about Stefan in the first episodes but now... I really can't decide. I like the both of them
Found the reference image through my friend who had it has her screensaver and could not resist to draw it
Done on Bristol Smooth Paper with Graphites.
Time spend: +/- 11 hours
NEW W.I.P. - Painting the roses
A drawing I started a few days back. Based on a beautiful picture that I came across in a magazine. I changed the reference up a bit though. More info once I finish. Its more fantasy related this time as I want to focus more on that :)
Thank you fir the sweet replies on my Stefan drawing and so sorry for the super late response :hug1:
11-11-2010, 08:15 AM
i love the painting the roses one, the colours are amazing already and I just love her expression, it has something very special and reminds me of Audrey Hepburn (is i her?). The mouth looks really cool.
The two boys are also very well drawn, i like their eyes the most :)
11-13-2010, 01:08 AM
Painting the Roses is gorgeous. I love that look on her face, and the way you have done her hair.
But I especailly love the roses.
And I agree with Joane, the drawing of Stefan & Damon eyes is what I like most also.
11-14-2010, 08:36 AM
Good and Well done on the Stafan and Damon Draw. I think they are recognizable
and the expression in their Faces are great. Iīm really excited about your "Painting the Roses " Draw how it Ends.
I see you soon!
Thank you so much for the sweet replies and the support :hug1:
11-20-2010, 05:30 PM
Nice work on Damon and stefan, how the shades are refined, the eyes do seem they stare out :D however if you do find references with natural tones on the faces if you want to achieve more realism. I like though your latest, though its a WIP of the girl and roses, I kinda like how simple it looks and the space it has.
I can't believe it has been over a year since I have last updated this :O I've lost my drawing-mojo for a while but have found it again. These are a few drawings I did in the meantime the first ones being older and the down ones being more recent.
I'm really glad you found your drawing mojo again because your proportions are great!
12-12-2011, 11:23 PM
Nice to see you are still drawing Val and especially great to see it's Vampire Diaries related :love1:
12-14-2011, 03:31 AM
Ohh wow I actually didn't know you had an art thread -- I just thought you had beautiful photography so I've spent the past 30 mins looking at your great work! :D
My favorite of your recent post is the last one; I love the sketchiness and rough texture! :D
12-14-2011, 06:48 PM
I noticed you've been researching a fitting style ;) Your latest drawing proves it. Props are great, you've definitely progressed quite sudden, especially the shading looks more controlled.
12-23-2011, 07:18 PM
I'm really glad you found your drawing mojo again! :aww:
Your proportions are great, the drawings look amazing! I really like the latest one, with its sketch and rough style!
01-03-2012, 01:28 PM
I like your recent drawings, they are so recognisable!
Especially the expression of the tutors actress ( don't know her actual name^^) is amazing, very cool!
