View Full Version : Val♥ Drawings - Updates
I dont know if I can make a new thread because of my other account as well
I made a new drawing of Zach Roerig ^^:

Ex- Casey from As The world Turns...
I love ATWT, it is a ritual here at home to watch it every night. Casey was one of my favorite characters bud sadly he left and after that like most times their is a recast.
Made with Graphite Pencils - 2B, 4B, HB (for the sketch) and 9B (for the darker parts of the hair).

Very light and sweet. I don't know who he is though. Another Edward, I see him a lot these days. Funny how people are drawn in sort of waves :)
Anyway, it's coming along nicely. Be careful with the size of his iris, the one to the right looks bigger than the other. Otherwise the likness seem accurate. Happy drawing Vall :)

I will post more soon ^^ Promise :)

The photomanipulation turned out really good, you might have a hidden talent there Valerie :)
Jennifer Love is easily reconizable, very nice contrast :)
With textures I'd say practise... I find it hard sometimes as well depending on the details but I think when trying different clothing out it gets easier or you get more used to it.
Thank you Zindy for the advice and support http://e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/hug.gif

I love your style! Your drawings are <3
I have two new ones. The first one being Jennifer Ferrin:
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs51/i/2009/333/2/c/Jennifer_Ferrin_by_littlebutt3rfly.jpg
She's a Broadway actress but has also played in As The World Turns (thats how I know her) and I wanted to draw her because she is such an amazing actress!
PS: Might look a little funky but thats my scanner :P (acts funny - funky XD)
2. http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs51/i/2009/333/e/1/Cameron_Bright_by_littlebutt3rfly.jpg
-Cameron Bright-
(Alec in New moon)
Although I drew him as his character (Alec in New Moon) first… I felt like doing another one since I wasn’t really convinced that it was the best I could on that moment with the first drawing I did. So the second time around I wanted to draw him more’ cause Cameron itself. What I really like about him and Dakota Fanning as well is that they both have this beautiful – mysterious look. So I was excited to hear that they were casted as Jane and Alec in ‘New Moon’ and de following movies- they just have the right look and they are both amazing actors. I hope he is recognizable and you like him
I know that I still have a lot to learn and to work on but secretly I'm kind of proud on these two drawings ;)

Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn in The Tudors) WIP
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2010/094/e/b/Natalie_Dormer___WIP_01_by_littlebutt3rfly.jpg
It's still in progress (even though it's almost done) but this is the first Work In Progress I wanted to show you. It is the talented English actress Natalie Dormer who portrayed the unforgettable second wife of king Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn. And yes, the scanner quality is still not doing what it should have been doing.

I think you have the basics that gets you far. For your digi-art. I've seen alot of photomanipulations, but nearly always the same mistake is that there is no shadowplay. Like where are the thrown shadows of the girl? Where does the lightsource come from tells me it's going towards me centered. You could do a cast shadow centered at her feet and a bit of shinelight and darkness around your sitter.
The whole will add alot more convincing to it ;)
Thanks for the advice :) I will try to do that with this current photomanip I am working on :D I aqree that the shadows do make it more realistic (just a little bit like drawing right? :) )

Very cute work with the photomanip so far :) I agree with Mike, it sometimes get to look unrealistic if the light is not alike on the human/object and the background. On this one I actually think if she was placed between the bridge and tree and mirrored around the light fall would have been very realistic, coming from the right, hitten her hair and arm.
Either way is has a really nice atmosphere.

When I look at the Work in Progress and the final piece I am glad that I changed the things that were not completely accurate. For example when you look at the Work in progress of the drawing you will see that her left eye (compared to the reference picture) was a little bit more closed. Now when I look at the final result and the reference I am glad I did change that. But the eyes on my drawing are a bit moreopen then the ones on the reference picture hihi!

val this is so pretty!! are you a Tudors fan? i watch the show and you captured her perfectly !she kinda reminds me of Amy Lee :)
Yeah I am! You too? Thats awesome :D Thank you very much for your compliment :D who is your favorite queen?
KaterinaArt
05-31-2010, 12:38 PM
hmm...thats a tricky one, i think it may be the last queen Cathrine Parr only b/c i find her devoted to her role as a wife/queen and love the genuine attention care and love she showed towards king henry's children, and although kathrine howards fate was very grim like anne boylen i feel they were both executed un-justly- and felt sorry for them,i think of all the queens the most passion king henry had was with anne boylen and the one he truly loved and sadly died was jane seymour-but the last one would have to be my favorite she seems the most loving and caring-so far..lol..
I agree. I also like Anne of Cleves though. I think it is heart-breaking how she got rejected like she was. She's a very compasionate and loving person. She speaks highly of people even when they are not as kind to her. There was really a lot of bitterness in Henry in the end. I have to say that my favorite queens are the two Anne's. Anne Boleyn was such an intense and intelligent woman. Henry and Anne's chemistry was so great because of the intense chemistry between JRM and Natalie...
Not really The Tudors related my favorite queen would be Elizabeth ;)
KaterinaArt
06-01-2010, 12:06 PM
I forgot about Anne of Cleves !! i agree she was a very caring queen too felt so sorry for her how king Henry treated her when he first met her!! cant believe he called her that name!!! how terrible, but i think in the end when he was un-happy with queen Kathrine howard he wished he would have stayed with Anne -i wonder sometimes if their real lives were as passionate or gruesome like they depict in the series :)
Hey Katerina I looked at your photos of you for a moment and you really look a little like a mix between Elizabeth and Katherine of Aragon? You have such a sweet face and a renaissance look it is really beautiful! And I love your beautiful long red hair :D

When I saw the reference picture I immediately liked t because of the innocence and freedom that it represented and I knew I had to draw it and started right away and finished it about 6 hours later. It also features my favorite element Air which is why I decided to call it like that The girl on the picture is Kirsten Prout who appeared briefly as Lucy in Eclipse.

Audrina Patridge:

Bella & Edward:
http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2010/220/e/d/Bella_and_Edward_by_littlebutt3rfly.jpg
I loved the reference picture a lot, Bella and Edward basically being captured in the moment. But already a lot of amazing artists drew this exact same picture so I decided to make mine on a brown-tinted paper hoping to achieve a timeless feeling. I know that I made Edward pretty pale but I wanted to do so because he is a vampire after all. I did the whole drawing with brown and white tinted pastels and hope because doing so giving a very beautiful and regularly used reference image my own twist.
Time spend: +/- 9 hours
Materials used: Pastels and A3 tinted paper (don’t remember the exact brand though )
Beautiful Vall! You captured the moment well. Keep up the pastel work! :)

I like the dark one on the right the most. mainly because of the darkness and of the painting style. Something colorful in it would be nice too I think, but that's your choice. The other has a nice painting effect aswell, but it's different.
I like how the hair flows in the Audrina Patridge drawing.
Thank you so much for the opinions Natje :hug1: and I am very glad you like it :D
lol both are so nice. I absolutely love both
@ Thanks Tim :D I am really glad you like them.
New Drawing WIP.
I am drawing Joss Stone as Anne of Cleves because of Anne's sad story. Anne was Henry VIII's fourth wife and known as the 'Rejected Queen'because he judged her to be unattractive while she actually was a very sweet and honest human being. And beside that Joss Stone did a really good job as portraying her :)

Started this one a while ago ^^".
Yup another Twilight drawing. This time I wanted to draw Rosalie to break away from Bella and Edward a bit. I do like Rosalie a lot actually. I think that ever since the beginning (when she was so harsh against Bella) it was already obvious why. And after I read Eclipse especially I was moved by her story.
It's practically done but I was wondering if I should color her eyes gold? I really like the idea of them popping out but I want to know your opinion. (If I do decide so this drawing shall be updated in a while instead of being re-uploaded )

beautiful drawing. Giving the eyes color would be a nice effect, I think. You really did a nice job on this so far. This is one of the characters I came to like. But I dunno, Bella is probably the most annoying character I've read in a book/series, and I thought Jacob was more interesting than Edward.

Yay! It's finally done I wanted to draw Damon & Stefan together for a while now and I finally sat down and drew them! Whenever people ask me whether I am team Stefan or team Damon I am always doubting. Yes I have watched the Vampire Diaries for a while now and yet again I still can't decide. I love Damon's sarcasm, charisma and of course his looks. But I was all about Stefan in the first episodes but now... I really can't decide. I like the both of them

Nice work on Damon and stefan, how the shades are refined, the eyes do seem they stare out :D however if you do find references with natural tones on the faces if you want to achieve more realism. I like though your latest, though its a WIP of the girl and roses, I kinda like how simple it looks and the space it has.
I can't believe it has been over a year since I have last updated this :O I've lost my drawing-mojo for a while but have found it again. These are a few drawings I did in the meantime the first ones being older and the down ones being more recent.

Ohh wow I actually didn't know you had an art thread -- I just thought you had beautiful photography so I've spent the past 30 mins looking at your great work! :D
My favorite of your recent post is the last one; I love the sketchiness and rough texture! :D

I noticed you've been researching a fitting style ;) Your latest drawing proves it. Props are great, you've definitely progressed quite sudden, especially the shading looks more controlled.

Hey Val!
I like your recent drawings, they are so recognisable!
Especially the expression of the tutors actress ( don't know her actual name^^) is amazing, very cool!
