I'm in an undergraduate art class called Advanced Ideas & Concepts, and we basically work on projects of obscure/broad topics such as soul catchers and memory systems, using any medium we wish as long as the result is visually appealing. The class is coming to and end and the final is due in about 3 weeks. It's supposed to be self-portrait involving symbolism and he's looking for us to make our biggest, deepest, and most powerful piece of the semester. The only idea I've even considered is; tossing a handful of keys into a container and filling it with mud, and one of the keys would fit a natural, simple-looking (to reflect my appearance) box with a lock on it. Inside the box would have to be the key to the project's success, but I can't decide on anything. Something like a beautiful opaque gem would be nice, but I feel like I need to do something more. What do you guys think? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!
