I thought i would create a little thread to promote the excellence of Nintendo's new balance board thingy.
What is it? What does it do?
Well, its certainly more then some gimmicky nonesense. It is more then just a game... It is more then just exercise. The wonderful balance board actually combines the two to create something that this country has been crying out for years. It makes exercise mainstream. It makes it fun.
I generally like to keep quite fit and healthy. Going for a run or practising some martial arts makes me feel happy. It makes me feel more confident and i love the buzz of a good workout.
But...
For a lot of people out there - and this is no disrespect - exercise is something that is deemed pointless and worthless with little incentive considering the aches and pains, sweat and hurt it so often causes... It is a lot easier to drift along happily absent mindlessly then it is to set ones self a goal and stick to it...
What a lot of people need is an incentive. Sometimes will-power alone isn't enough... And that's what Wii Fit does. It creates an incentive. It makes things fun. People will want to use it for a giggle.
Ultimately, Wii Fit create awareness. It really does make exercise fun.... and it’s an absolutely perfect way to burn calories without even considering your actions as exercises. Players will hurt, they will sweat, they will feel exhausted and collapse in a messy heap... but they are also likely to have a smile on their face, feeling content and satisfied after beating some previously unreachable score or after obtaining another new game to try.
I personally keep quite fit and exercise often so Wii Fit isn't going cause me to burn off any weight any time soon - rather it will help me to sustain a steady weight... But yet, to those who previously felt burdened or unbothered by all that weight malarkey ... Wii Fit is a blessing and will certainly help to burn off those pounds. I love the little thing and use it now as part of my daily routine...
Has anyone else got their little mitts on this yet? Anyone else interested? Anyone got some high scores we can challange each other to beat?!
Right... Time to make myself look silly by doing some hula hooping!
