I would really like to know what kinda pencils and other materials you use fore your drawings :?:

I use Derwent ordinary pencils & soluble pencils, Koh-i-noor pencils & grafite pencil, Staedler Lumograph pencils, Conte charcoal pencils, and Derwent pastel pencils for all my works..

what are all those different pencils?
Is it same as the range 9h-9b? And how do I know what I use?

Most of my pencils if not all of them are B range pencils....but being different brands also has an effect on the drawing when you use them.
What do you use to fix the drawing (for example a coal drawing)?
I use hair spray, because itīs cheaper than the sprays you can buy.

I use the Krystal Fixative by 3M and find that its wotrth the money you pay for it. The paper does not curl, it stays flat, and the beauty of it is that you can work on top of it...this is especially useful if I work on a piece over a couple of days for example...
It can also be used for most media, like pastels (both soft and oil) charcoal, graphite, and pencil...

I usually use all types of Derwent pencils from Grapite to water-soluble colours. For fixing I use Windsor & Newton spray Fixative. One thing I have found is that usung this fixative on water-soluble pencils can cause certain colours to disintergrate! (purples and some blues). Some of my older colour drawings are disappearing at an alarming rate!!

maybe not a fault in the fixative, but rather in the pencils?
Anyhow I can add that using the Sprayfix will also prevent your drawings from going yellow...
I never had problems with the hairspray.... :D
I donīt think the Fixative is worth the money.

HEy....I use hair spray too!! *g* I think it's nearly the same like the expensive special-spray!
What I also use for the drawings: Faber Castell pencils and coal from faber castell and "no names" ....Yea I need new pencils fast! I have only the very soft pencils (8B,...) that's to soft for some lines like hair or something like that!
Most of my pencils are also from Faber-Castell.
I have only a few Derwent, I bought them a few years ago, but the shop, where iīve bought them do not exist any more. And I donīt find another shop were you can buy or order them....
It seems that they are here in Germany not very common (or is it only my here where I live ? )
